What kind of coverage do you prefer in a foundation? Do you want your natural skin to shine through or do you want to cover everything? My routine varies, but recently I have been reaching for my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. I really like the way it blends easily into the skin and covers where my skin is less than perfect. It looks really natural and does not look heavy or cakey. On days when I am wanting the “no makeup” makeup look, I reach for my Estee Lauder Double Wear nude foundation. It is sheer, but I still get a beautiful result. I find that it gives me a glowing, even complexion.
Here are the two foundations side by side:
You can see that the packaging is very different. The nude comes in a “twist tube” like bottle with a sponge applicator which I liked untill my sponge fell off. The concept is good but may need some tweaking. The Double Wear comes in the “old school” bottle and is just the flip and dab technique. It would be nice if it came with a pump, but it still works just the same. So now you know what the bottles look like, what about them on the skin? Here is a comparison of the two.
My ultimate goal was to give you a picture of the two side by side on my face, but my camera did not do the comparison justice so here are two swatches on my hand. You can see on the top, even though they are both the same shade, they look quite different. The nude foundation appears lighter on the skin and more sheer while the original has a more darker tone and has a bit more coverage. Though they look different on my hand, they both blend out nicely on my complexion. If you want to see a side by side comparison on my face, please watch my youtube video here:
At the end of the day, these are both great foundations but my favorite is the original Double Wear because the coverage and staying power that it gives. What kind of coverage do you prefer? I hope that I have given you some insight into these products and you can choose the one that is best for you!
